What if I already have an account with ADIB?

Is the ADIB Ghina Savings account Shariah compliant?

Yes, the ADIB Ghina Savings Account is based on Mudaraba, and is a demand deposit account where the customer either reaps profits or bears losses. The program has been reviewed and approved by our Shari’a Board.​

How much do I need to save with the Ghina Savings Account?

You may save as much as you want. However, you must start with a new cash deposit of AED 20,000 in order to be eligible for the Welcome entry (an electronic coupon which you will receive upon). You will also receive one entry for every AED 20,000 that you maintain for a calendar month or deposit in your account.​

How much do I need to have in the account to participate in the grand draw?

All you need to be eligible for the grand draw are four draw entries. Which means you, for example, can save AED 20,000 for three calendar months right from the beginning of the program (total of three entries plus the one Welcome entry), or you can save AED 60,000 for one calendar month (again, plus the one Welcome entry). Either way, you are eligible.​

Yes, you will be automatically entered into the draw as long as you have a balance of AED 20,000 or multiples thereof in your balance.​

How is the calendar month calculated? What if I deposit the money in the middle of the month?

The program calculates your balance from the 1st of the month, and completion of the required month is from the 1st of one month to the 1st of the next month. If you deposit into the Ghina Account at any time during the month, you will be issued a draw entry at the beginning of the month after the next calendar month. For example, if you deposit 40,000 on 25th of March, you will immediately receive the Welcome entry. You will also earn another 2 coupons (1 for each 20,000 on your account) during April which will be credited in the beginning of May.​

What if I withdraw money and my balance falls below AED 20,000?

If your ADIB Ghina Savings Account balance falls below AED 20,000 at any time during the calendar month, you will lose all the collected entries including the Welcome entry, and you will start again. The program’s aim is to encourage good saving practices, and staying in the program will help customers reap the benefits of such practices.​

How much should my income be to qualify for home finance at ADIB?

In general, the minimum salary requirement is AED 10,000 for UAE nationals and AED 15,000 for other UAE residents. However, other factors will play a role in qualification, such as the purchase price, down-payment, tenure and other debts and liabilities.​

I have a debit card and a Covered Card. Does each card have a different limit?

No. You have only one Instant Finance limit, which takes into account all relationships held with the bank. Your limit will be re-calculated depending on changes in these relationships.​

How, where and when do I need to enter the draw entries?

All draw entries are Electronic and they are entered automatically every Tuesday (end of day) that comes before the second Thursday of the month. All the entries collected during the period before the final draw will be entered into the raffle. After the final draw is conducted, all collected entries included in the final draw will be dropped except for the Welcome entry.​

How do I sign-up for the Instant Finance program?

The program is activated for all ADIB customers (limits vary according to each individual). The limit for each customer is pre-determined and set by ADIB according to our credit criteria. 

If you have a registered mobile number with ADIB, you will receive an SMS informing you of the availability of Instant Finance. All other ADIB customers would need to visit an ADIB branch to register for Instant Finance (on an exception basis only).​

If you are a Salary Transfer customer, you can visit a branch and request for a limit increase. Your request will be forwarded to the Credit & Risk Management Team and they will update your MFL according to the product criteria. ,

What is the difference between Ghina and other prize winning Sukuks in the market?

Unlike Sukuk where your money is not always accessible immediately, Ghina’s main feature is that you can withdraw your funds any time. You will even receive a debit card which you can use to access your money.​

Can I do part payment for a purchase by way of cash?

Yes. You can give part of the payment to the Merchant in cash. An ADIB Representative will note the part payment when entering the details of the goods. The amount paid in cash upfront as part payment will not be included as financing taken from ADIB.​

What is the maximum “full” limit available for Goods Financing?

The maximum “full” limit available is 20 times the customer’s salary for both UAE Nationals & Expats. In addition, the Debt Service Ratio should not exceed 50% of this amount. What happens if there is an increase in my salary? How do I increase my MFL?

Please call the Call Center immediately and tell them of the disputed transaction. Call Center Agent will guide you on the steps of logging a complaint and assist you with this disputed IF transaction. It will be resolved as per ADIB’s dispute resolution process.​

How can I save for my child? Do I need to visit the branch?

You do not need to visit the branch every time to save for your child. You can transfer money through the internet, mobile app or upon your request we will activate the frequent transfer order from your primary account to Banoon account where you will be able to save easily and on continuous basis.

What is Mudarabah?

Mudarabah is a contract between the Bank and a customer; whereby one party provides the funds (Rab Al Mal); in this case the customer and the other party (the Mudarib); in this case the Bank invests these funds in a project or a particular activity. Any profits generated from these funds are distributed between the parties according to the profit shares that were pre-agreed upon in the contract.

The Mudarib is responsible of all losses caused by his misconduct, negligence or violation of the terms and conditions of the Mudarabah; otherwise, losses are borne by Rab Al Mal.

How are the profits calculated in Banoon?

Profits are calculated based on the minimum balance available in the Banoon Account during a month. Profits are calculated on monthly basis and credited to Banoon accounts on quarterly basis (January, April, July & October).

Who can open the Banoon Account? What documents are required to open the Banoon Account?

Banoon account can be opened by the Guardian who is the father, the grandfather or the uncle in most cases. It can also be the one assigned by the court called the Official Custodian.

The mother can open the Banoon account under Heba as well; whereby the funds are transferred from her to her child. The mother will be requested to sign the Heba Declaration upon opening this account and will become a grantor in this case.
The mother can request to close an account any time. She can also request to withdraw money through branch tellers only.
We have limited the grantor to be for mothers in the first phase of this account where we could be opening it to include anyone who wants to donate money for children, starting with the first relative degree.

Documents required for Guardian/Custodian/Grantor to open the Banoon Account include:
• Complete Banoon Account Opening Application form - Grantor.
• Passport of the mother.
• Passport of the child.
• Valid Visa for expatriates.
• AED 1,000 as opening balance.

ADIB Direct uses One Time Passwords (OTPs) as a second level of security to authenticate your transactions at the time of authorization
During Online Banking Registration or migration > Online Banking’s One Time Password (OTP) is a 6 digit code generated and sent to your registered mobile number or email address.
This provides a second level of security when you try to login for the first time.
During Payment file upload and payment approvals > ADIB provides physical tokens or mobile app soft tokens which generate a 6 digit code each time on demand. These need to be entered in order to proceed with the upload or approval action.

ADIB charges for the transfer are debited from your account. Correspondent bank and/or beneficiary bank charges, if any, will be deducted from the amount that the beneficiary receives.

Are the bulk payments uploads secure?

Yes; the bulk payments is secured with encryption technology (AES 256 protocol). We provide an option on ADIB Direct to download the encryption tool to encrypt the payment transaction files before the upload process. Does the beneficiary addition on ADIB Direct need further approval by ADIB?

No approval is required from ADIB; once the beneficiary is created by the initiator it would need approval by client authorized signatory.
